“made.” Poem & Design
made.
i am.
i was and you were.
before
i was and you were,
i am
made.
saying “let there be . . .”
there was—
light and liquid and land,
sunsets, oceans, sand.
and man.
forming us from the dust,
the master entrusted to us
the earth
and called us to care for it,
cultivate it,
and create from it
in holy communion with him—
the original creative community.
you see,
you and i were made to make.
the evidence is evident—
created to create.
from cave wall canvases to illustrator artboards, we
are creation contributors,
communicators,
content creators on this global platform,
where contentment is found in the creator—
the source of life and inspiration,
matter,
imagination.
we create because of the creator.
make because of the maker,
for in his image we were made,
imago dei,
but in his presence we are made.
made whole,
made new,
made images of his grace.
you see,
you and i were made to worship,
not to be recipients of it,
but participants in it.
joining all creation
as it sings its maker’s song.
in this creative process,
we pursue
he who is three yet one.
the one true god—
who sees my sin,
yet seeks me out,
frees my mind,
clears my doubt.
saves me,
from myself.
to live—
not for others’ approval,
nor for mine,
but from god’s.
made.
i am.
i was and you were.
before
i was and you were,
i am
made.
and still is.
for i am being made new
day by day, by grace, through faith
in the word of god made flesh—
through whom i live,
in whom i rest.
we are, for now, projects in process,
character arcs without conclusion,
unfinished masterpieces.
but on that day,
we will be
storytellers of grace,
glory-dwellers.
you’ll see.
