2022 Celebration of Women
Faculty at Illinois Digital Booklet
Summary
With the reality of COVID-19 limiting the ability for the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign to host large-scale gatherings, during the 2021-2022 school year, I worked directly with the Office of the Provost to take the booklet for the Celebration of Women Faculty at Illinois event and turn it into a 44-page interactive digital booklet featuring 97 honorees, 23 videos, and 113 charts and graphs with an interactive table of contents, campus map, and index.
At the outset of this project, I did extensive research on interactive documents to determine the best way of creating something like this, and, in so doing, discovered in5 by Ajar Productions, a plugin for Adobe InDesign that allows one to create interactive documents in InDesign and export them into HTML5, keeping all the media and interactivity intact. With this solution, I was able to use buttons to activate multi-state objects and embed videos and scrollable text, all with total creative freedom to design the document however I wanted.
